- The Gregory David Johnston Endowed Scholarship was established in 1979 in memory of Gregory David Johnston. He was a freshman at the University of Alabama who met with an untimely death before his sophomore year. The scholarship was endowed by his parents in memory of their son who deeply loved Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
- This is an annual scholarship administered by the University of Alabama, Undergraduate Admissions Office. It is specifically managed by Rick Funk who is the Associate Director for Regional Recruiting. The scholarship is usually presented in April of each year at the annual Parents’ Weekend dinner held at the chapter house.
- The scholarship is restricted to freshmen who become newly initiated members of the Alabama Mu chapter, are full-time students at the University of Alabama and have achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA the semester they pledge. It is advertised regularly in chapter meetings up to the application deadline.
