Recruitment (more popularly known as Rush) is a year long process. Alabama Mu is constantly seeking out quality men who possess those traits inherent of a true gentleman and a loyal son of Minerva. Our fraternity is bound together by the principles and ideals of our Ritual of nearly 156 years ago and our creed, The True Gentleman. Some of the essential traits and qualities we look for include, but are not limited to: above average scholarship, participation in athletics and/or extracurricular clubs and activities, leadership abilities, commitment to volunteerism and community service and the desire to cultivate and develop lasting lifetime friendships. Membership in SAE is for life and the fraternity fosters these relationships among all individuals, irrespective of age, race, ethnic background, religion or creed.
If you would like more information or know of an individual who meets the high standards we desire for membership, then we ask that you submit a Rush Recommendation. The Recruitment/Rush Chairman is the officer of the chapter responsible for following up and communicating with the prospective member and/or requestor. In addition, the chapter president works very closely with the Recruitment/Rush Chairman to ensure that names are placed on the list and contact is made with all prospective members.
- Prospective members (and high school students), along with alumni should use the special e-mail address below which goes directly to the Recruitment/Rush Chairman who will compile and maintain the master list for the 2011 Recruitment season. In addition, you should request an SAE alumnus or active member to submit a brief letter of recommendation to the chapter (via the same special e-mail address) as a follow-up to support your interest and recommendation. Due to the hundreds of prospective new members each year, this process must be followed.

- NOTE: The Recruitment process begins early in the Spring semester each year, just after the winter break. It is very important that all prospective new members get on the interest list as early as possible. Due to the number of Recruitment Recommendations received each year, it is critical that each submission on-line be followed up with a supportive letter of recommendation from an alumnus or active member of SAE.
