- ACADEMIC SUCCESS: One key attribute to the current active chapter is their academic success in the classroom. As the third largest fraternity on campus, the chapter tied for 11th place (out of the 29 total fraternities ranked) in grades for the Fall 2007 semester with a 2.78 overall GPA, a tad above the All-Men's and All-Independent Male Average of 2.77. The All-Fraternity Average for the Fall 2007 semester was 2.78. This ranking can be attributed to strong chapter leadership and to a strong emphasis placed on grades beginning with new members. During pledgeship, prospective new members are required to attend three hours of study hall five nights a week. Grades, along with philanthropy and community service, have been made a number one priority in new member education and in the house. The chapter has received recognition and several accollades from both the university and the province for these worthy endeavors.
- HOUSE DIRECTOR: Our new full-time House Director is Ms. Cindy Patton (a descendent of Abner Edwin Patton, one of our eight Founding Fathers of SAE). She officially joined the house staff on August 20, 2007. She is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the house, which also includes the kitchen and menus for the 14 meals prepared each week. Our Dining Room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Monday through Thursday; breakfast and lunch on Friday; and for Saturday game day lunch during home football games. Click here for this week's menus. She can be reached via cell phone at 205-534-5701 or via e-mail Cindy Patton (click to e-mail).
- HOUSE CORP. LIAISON: Charles D. "Chad" Wilson II is the direct liaison with the House Director and oversees the day-to-day operations of the house from the House Corp. perspective. The House Corp. has met with both the active chapter and pledges to deliniate expectations of respect and conduct within the recently renovated chapter house. Chad will be seen frequently throughout the week and weekend monitoring house operations and meeting with key officers of the chapter. He can be reached via cell phone at 205-799-3684 or via e-mail Chad Wilson (click to e-mail).
- MINERVA CLUB: This is a group comprised of the mothers of our active chapter. They collect their own dues each year for chapter-related events and provide for small improvements and gifts to the chapter house. They plan special "theme" social events surrounding home football games in the Fall semester. The primary contribution the Minerva Club makes is to the annual Spring Parent’s Weekend where they are responsible for the food and decorations. Each year, several mothers join in and volunteer by putting their time and effort into decorating and extensive planning for the party. The night generally consists of h’or doeurves followed by a fully catered dinner for all guests. A short program led by the current chapter president takes place during dinner. He will summarize the current state of the chapter, present various awards and introduce the chapter officers. Following this, a keynote speaker, usually an alumnus, will give a brief message to the chapter. After dinner and the short program are over, a band party for all guests tops off the evening with plenty of dancing and entertainment.
