In the News
- 41 NEW MEMBERS: were initiated on September 4, 2016 in DeVotie Hall. Over 100 parents, relatives, families and friends attended the post-Initiation ceremony dinner and festivities in the house. Our staff did an OUTSTANDING job once again! Congratulations again to our 41 new True Gentlemen of Mother Mu!
- RECRUITMENT: is truly a year round process at Mother Mu. It begins in earnest early in the Spring semester during the winter months. It is important that alumni submit Recruitment Recommendations and that potential new members state their interest early on and get a letter of recommendation from an alumnus or active member in advance, so they can get on the rush list and be kept informed of recruitment events throughout the winter, spring and summer months. For more information, visit the Rush page on the main menu above, or send an e-mail to the following: email@example.com (click on the address link).
- ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: and striving for academic excellence continues to be one of our main priorities here at Mother Mu. We are proud to say 32 SAE members were awarded certificates of merit on January 19, 2017 by SAE House Corporation members Hugh Miller ’85, Lake Lassiter ’06, and Bill McGowin ’86 for their academic accomplishments. Eight members made the UA President’s List (GPA of 4.00) and 24 made the UA Dean’s List (GPA of 3.50 to 3.99). Click here to view the 32 members who received this academic distinction.
- SERVICE to the COMMUNITY: was highlighted throughout the Fall 2016 semester with Alabama Mu holding three fundraising events. Our Brews for Baton Rouge, co-hosted with Delta Kappa Epsilon and Kappa Delta, took place on August 26. This event benefitted the flood relief efforts in Baton Rouge. A total of $7,710 was donated to the American Red Cross of Louisiana. The B+ Cookout, hosted on September 22, took place at the SAE house and benefitted the B+ Foundation, a charity focused on eliminating childhood cancer. Lastly, Bucking for Breast Cancer was held on October 18. This event benefitted the American Cancer Society and was our primary fundraiser for Fall 2016 semester.
