The Exceptional Foundation

      The Exceptional Foundation is a non-profit organization that began in 1991 with five mentally challenged participants. The Exceptional Foundation serves approximately two-hundred and fifty individuals in the Birmingham metro area by providing services throughout the school year both during and after school hours, and in the summer with an eight-week-long day-camp. Alabama Iota actively participates at this organization, spending quality time with many of its individuals. To learn more about this project, visit this link.

Woodrow Wilson Elementary School

      Woodrow Wilson Elementary is an elementary school about three blocks away from Birmingham Southern. This service learning project has been very sucessful with creating a friendly social environment in which we participate in tutoring, mentoring, special events, teacher assistance, scout activities, sports activities and painting. Ducks Unlimited Auction

      "Tall tales, laughs, food and fund-raising for conservation projects will take center stage Friday night at the annual Ducks Unlimited Huntsville Chapter banquet." This auction helps fund community projects as well as national efforts to help protect wetland areas. This annual fund-raiser is made possible with donations from corporate sponsors. Alabama Wildlife Federation

      Alabama Iota volunteers their time and labor for AWF's Birmingham chapter during their annual fundraiser. The 2005 Birmingham AWF chapter held their fundraiser at the Birmingham Zoo where Alabama Iota totaled over 140 hours of community service. To learn more about this project, visit this link.
